One of my favorite Christmas memories was baking cookies with my mother and sisters. After I got married, I began to branch out into chocolate. My husband had a weakness for crispy peanut butter balls so I began making them for him. When I was working one of my co-workers brought in some home made chocolates - filled and molded like Sanders and other chocolate makers - and I was impressed and inspired. So I began with simple molds, then added fillings. In search of special flavors for the fillings, I found a recipe for dark chocolate truffles. That recipe has been adapted over the years to suit my tastes. The truffles have now become a holiday favorite for my family and with the in-laws.
I don't always make the same recipes each year but there are some staples I keep that the families love. I add and subtract each year depending on my mood.
